Clinical Research Opportunity with Emory MD/PhD Student

Alex Waldman, current MD/PhD student at the Emory School of Medicine, is conducting a clinical research project on sex differences in multiple sclerosis with Dr. William Hu and Dr. William Tyor in the Department of Neurology. Alex will be moving in July to conduct his PhD as part of the National Institutes of Health Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program, and is recruiting interested undergraduate students to ensure that this important clinical study continues to recruit patients.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students interested in medicine and/or neuroscience research and will teach valuable techniques such as blood processing, data management, ELISA, and data analysis. Learning to conduct phlebotomy may also be a possibility for those that are interested.

Students must have availability on Monday and be able to work at the Emory Neurology Clinic at Executive Park. All day availability on Monday is preferred though shifts can be split into morning and afternoon time slots if multiple students are interested with complementary schedules.

Alex will be presenting the results of this study next year at the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers Annual Meeting and students who help will have authorship on that poster in addition to any manuscripts published. Alex is extremely passionate about mentoring and teaching students and believes this experience will be a standout on applications for graduate/medical school.

If you are interested, please email Alex at awaldm2@emory.edu.
