The COPE Health Scholars program is accepting volunteer applications for their various programs. As a Health Scholar, pre-health students and recent graduates gain clinical experience, make a difference
in the lives of patients and become an integral part of the patient care
team. Working side by side with nurses and physicians, volunteers provide
basic care for patients. Participants can help patients walk, feed them when they
can’t feed themselves, assist with checking vitals and much more. After
an initial 30-hour intensive training program, volunteers will begin clinical
rotations in a variety of areas at the program site. At some sites,
administrative rotations are also available. Programs are located in Seattle, WA and throughout California. See the program locations for details on opportunities available at each site.
There are several different Health Scholars programs with lengths ranging from 3-15 months (most appropriate for gap year students). Additionally, there are summer opportunities for undergraduate students including the Pre-Med Scholar program, the Summer Intensive Scholar program, and Pre-Health Profession Scholar program. Find out more about each program on the COPE Health Scholars Courses page: https://copehealthscholars.org/programs/.
